The name Tanzania conjures up images of wildebeest stampeding across vast savannah, rain forests teeming with monkeys and birdlife, and great plains brimming with legions of game. All of these natural wonders and more are on offer in this exceptionally diverse African nation. Visitors typically visit Tanzania to partake in at least one of the four well-known Tanzanian tourist experiences: a relaxing seaside vacation on the picturesque island paradise of Zanzibar, an underwater tour of some of the world’s most renowned dive sites around the gorgeous Spice Islands, a safari adventure in some of Africa’s most impressive game reserves, or a hiking excursion around Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. Whichever of these incredible holidays you choose, you will undoubtedly be welcomed by some fabulously friendly and peaceful inhabitants who, despite being divided into 120 different ethnic groups and cultures, live in harmony with one another and provide some of the most wonderfully exotic local cuisine you could imagine. With all of this diversity on offer, the most difficult part of your Tanzanian holiday experience is likely to be deciding where to go!
Your guide will be awaiting your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. From the airport, you will begin your quick drive from KIA (JRO) to your accommodation, Serana Arusha.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to Arusha National Park, where your safari starts. This charming park has a rich diversity of landscapes and wildlife. From lakes, waterfalls, and swamps to volcanos, mountains, and tropical rainforests. They attract many beautiful birds including silvery-cheeked hornbill and thousands of pink-hued flamingos. This Park is also the only place in northern Tanzania where you can easily spot the black-and-white colobus monkey. One of the popular safari activities in this national park is a canoe or walking safari with an armed ranger. A great chance to enjoy wildlife up close, from a different perspective than sitting in a safari vehicle. Meals and overnight at Arusha Serena Resort & Spa.

Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers. In the area around these swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing pythons. Meals and Overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
In the morning after breakfast, you depart for the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge to visit the interesting museum at this world-famous archaeological site containing fossils of our early two-million-year-old human ancestors. Olduvai Gorge
Olduvai Gorge is a paleoanthropological site of major significance, where an old river has carved away the rock to expose layer upon layer of volcanic soil. This is where Dr Louis and Mary Leakey found the remains of hominids "Nutcracker Man", "Tool Making Man" and "Lucy", discoveries that have helped to fill some of the missing links in the chain of human evolution and added more evidence to the theory of modern man’s emergence in Africa.
The "Cradle of Mankind" now has a visitor centre where you may hear a short lecture on the work of the Leakey’s and their successors and a small museum where you may see some of their finds, including a giant giraffe - it is hard to believe that they were once even taller!
Today you continue your safari in the Serengeti national park. Its stunning landscape can be seen in some of the most impressive nature documentaries. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are unsurpassed. The annual wildebeest migration with more than a million wildebeest is probably the highlight of the Serengeti. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Together with your private guide, you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals, you will also get to see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park. Meals and overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.
Breakfast. The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Southern plains i.e Ndutu area. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best. Meals and Overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.
